Do you have a PCT national stage filing deadline approaching in the next few months?  Are you considering filing with the USPTO?  If so, filing before March 19, 2013, will save you a few hundred dollars.

A new fee schedule will take effect with the USPTO on March 19, 2013, and you’ve guessed it — most fees will be increasing.  For national stage entry, the total costs for large entity applicants will increase from $1140 to $1480.   Other increases of note at the national stage filing step are for independent claims in excess of 3 ($250 to $420) and claims in excess of 20 ($62 to $80).  A copy of the new fee schedule can be viewed here.

So if you do have a 30-month filing deadline occurring after March 19, 2013, you may want to consider entering the US national stage early to beat this effective date.

One Response to New USPTO Fee Schedule Taking Effect March 19, 2013

  1. I hate how they have increased yet again. Good that I have filed before March 19 and saved hundreds of dollars. I wish they would stop it though.
